We also need to avoid toxic people at all costs. If we cannot do that, we should have a few tactics up our sleeve to keep them at a distance at least.

These are the types who always

I am always on the lookout for these types and I know when I meet them I have to keep them at arm’s length because they will drag me down and involve me in their petty, resentful world. I have 7 on my blacklist.

These are the ones who blame everyone and everything in the world except themselves! Very often they themselves are to blame but they will never admit it. They are always the ones who are cheated or have had a really rough deal. They will always spout about how they never had a privileged upbringing.

I always try to avoid these people. I know full well that we live in an imperfect world and that I can try to improve things without playing the blame game.

These family members or coworkers are the ones who are out to steal your precious time. As soon as you know you cannot help them or they will not be around for you when you might need them, then steer clear.

How many of your family phone you more than a few times a day with some very banal news? This may not be anything urgent. Build a few defenses here. I always make sure I switch my phone off at certain times because I need to concentrate on a project or some important task.
