Increase Your Sales With One Simple Trick

When I was in charge of a sales team there were a lot of personalities to deal with and the job was to get the best out of each person. You can try to glamorize sales all you want but basically, if you are good at selling then you will make a lot of money. It does not matter if you are selling cars or some complicated cloud software product, sales are all the same thing and that is to convince the person you are talking to that you have the best product and support.

I have seen many salespeople over my time and usually, you can tell the good from the bad from the beginning. But, that does not mean the bad cannot learn to become good. The issue is when the bad think they know everything and have excuse upon excuse about why their sales numbers are not performing. It’s anything from family issues to Covid to the weather… I have heard them all. And it is not that there are hurdles in any business that has to overcome, but the bottom line is you just need to do it better than your competition. And this can go both ways! If your company is not creating and changing with the times then your good salespeople will find another place being successful. On the other end, your company is being proactive and the bad salespeople will then get weeded out. How can you tell? If you have one very successful salesperson, then the others need to figure it out or you need to find someone else.

You see, salespeople can over complicate the process when trying to sell. Sitting at their desks, making calls, etc., you must be different from your competition. And when I say different, I am not necessarily talking about the product as I am about you the person. In basic terms, you the salesperson are the product. You have to find the customers, develop the customer, sell the customer and support the customer. You see there is a human connection to sales even in these days of everything electronic. Tweeting, emailing, texting, video calling is one thing, but creating a relationship is where you separate the good salespeople from the bad.

That is the key to every good salesperson…do you relate with the customer? Do you have a personal connection? Do you know anything about them? I use to tell my salespeople you can find out everything about your customer before even saying a word by sitting in their office/cubicle. Travel will come…
