Want to be Cultured? Then Learn a New Language.

Why would you want to learn another language? There are many reasons. Most importantly, it will enhance your opportunities as it gives you a competitive edge in the global market. It will improve your skills and memory, and problem-solving. It will build trust with those culturally different than you, which in turn will make you appreciate cultural diversity.

For example, when traveling around Europe, it is very convenient to know the commonly spoken languages. Although most people in Europe know how to speak English, you will have a much easier time if you want to venture to get to know the locals, to read signs, menus, etc. With just knowing English, you are limited to tourist destinations instead of being able to immerse yourself and explore. You will gain a better understanding of their culture’s literature, poetry, film, music, art, philosophy, science, etc.

Learning a different language will help me become a better traveler. More culturally aware of the history and your experience will feel authentic. You will be more culturally and consciously aware. You’ll be able to find cheaper deals on flights and you are most likely to avoid scams.

You’ll make friends you will otherwise never have made if you did not know the language. Learning a different language can lead you to discover different kinds of human knowledge. This will improve your social life and your networking skills. You will begin easily understand the dialect which will earn you the trust of those you are communicating with.
