Creating Your True Identity in a Divided World

As the world keeps evolving, the internet tends to make us feel more divided instead of united. With every year that goes by, it’s becoming increasingly scary to openly share our true identities because of all the hate and critique that’s being thrown into the fray these days.

A lot of us are tired of having our desire of moving forward in the world — and to achieve something — to be under the weight of accusations manifested by politics and movements we don’t want to be a part of in the first place.

This is a terrible practice for young people. We don’t want to be pushed into a category. We don’t want to be associated with all those things we initially don’t stand for. We don’t want to be pulled in countless directions that don’t add anything to our personal lives, and that don’t serve our purpose.

The words that I’ve come across inescapably this year are “Privilege”, “Identity Politics”, “Tyrannical”,“Oppressed”, “Patriarchy”, “Shaming”, etc...

These terms reveal to me a destructive desire of looking for all the bad things in society. They poison the minds of young people growing up in their teens and twenties. They also heighten the intention of being provocative and offensive.

Instead of collecting young minds — and converting them into “warriors” for their mental and emotional warfare, these selfish organizations should focus more on guiding them in becoming self-sufficient, courageous human beings.
