Seasonal Sickness Strikes

Barraged by crowds, long lines, and suffocating heat, I succumbed to a summer malaise.

I am not a fan of crowds. Anywhere.

Or long lines. At a checkout counter, or traffic light, or restaurant. Anyplace I have to wait. Especially if I must stand.

Or closed shops that are supposed to be open.

Or stifling heat.

I have experienced all of the above in the past couple of days. As a result, I have become a crotchety old lady, short-tempered, impatient, and lethargic. I think I have contracted an illness: the Summer Blahs. It is not contagious, but rampant in areas where hot weather dawdles for an extended period.

Luckily, the malady is temporary. I believe there are some things I can do to help endure the sickness. The syndrome is not terminal or incurable, and symptoms do not linger.

I have carefully considered, tested, researched, and evaluated a variety of treatments that will hopefully allow me to successfully survive the summer blahs. I will not utilize all of them, but selected ones should have a positive effect on my mind and body. Possible therapies include, but are not limited to:

The one recommended cure that will definitely work I cannot undertake — travel to a place offering cool weather. The far north of Canada, for instance, or Antarctica. But for a number of reasons that is not possible.

As for the other treatments — long-term incarceration is out. I spent enough time in quarantine the past two years attempting to avoid Covid. Which I did.

Actions I am taking:

I keep a pitcher of tea or coffee in the fridge, always available for an iced cold drink.
