My 2019 In Retrospect

LEARN LOVE BREATHE

Whew!!! 2019 has come to its end and for a year that has been such an eye opener, I feel nervous to have to say HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020. This year to me was a boost to all ideas that only lived in my head. I faced some challenges that shaped me and victories that humbled me. I can confidently say with my 24 years that, life is not easy but simple .

I have compiled some important lessons I learnt as I journeyed through 2019. Like I always do, I wish to share these with you. I believe that a story shared, can inspire many.

OPPORTUNITIES

Not all opportunities are to be accepted. Early this year, A friend told me she had a clandestine travel opportunity. In Africa, a lot of people engage in this kind of trips and succeed. She did not see herself wanting to desperately go out in that manner so she turned it down. Some family members and friends thought she was not taking the right decision. Anita took her grounds and called it off. In Africa, we believe that going abroad is a stepping stone to success. I believe in that too, the problem is you need to know what risk is worth taking, calculate your risk. Believe in yourself and know what you want.

PATIENCE

There are times when all the things you need will not come to you immediately. Our prayers are always answered though not in the way we want. Affirm yourself even when things are not right and you will attract positive vibes.

GRATITUDE

In every situation. give thanks and show appreciation. Some people wish they had the life you are looking down on. Life is the best gift. Be grateful always.

PURPOSE

The purpose of life is not to be happy but to be useful, honourable, compassionate and make a difference that you lived well. Look into yourself to discover your natural talents and work on them. If you have been envying other people’s achievements then you should quit doing that. You are different.

SELF LOVE

Prioritise yourself. Most people really do not care whether you are a failure or a success. The solution to managing people is to stick to those you know are relevant for you. We can always make a difference between the toxic and good people in our lives.

UNCERTAINTY

Confusion is the beginning of all understanding. Sometimes, being confused can actually lead you to the things you want. There can not exist uncertainty without the presence of ideas. However, with time and concentration, you will pick out a move. Do not feel bad when confused.

READ

This particular lesson never gets old and I think it will reside in almost everything I write. Reading anything in your interest can open your mind to a new world. When reading becomes a habit, it will be followed by the zeal to write and share. Sharing is caring. Caring makes the world a better place.

TRUST

Life is a process. We move from baby, adolescent, adult and old. The same way projects start with an idea, plan, execution and result. Even after attaining our goal, we keep working to sustain the project just like we eat and drink to stay healthy. Everyone has got their lifepath. Do not compare yourself to others. As your faces and body shapes are different, so are your difficulties. Learn from others but do not copy exactly their ways, which will shun your natural abilities.

SILENCE

Silence is king. It is said in my local parlance that an empty vessel makes the loudest noise. I really did not understand this figure of speech until I studied literature in secondary school. In case you have nothing to say, it is always better to keep quiet. Sometimes you have something to say but it might not be the right thing to say or the right place to speak so just hold your peace. In a situation where you are moved to say anything out of high emotions like joy and anger, hold your peace. Speak later when your mind is neutral.

LA VIDA LOCA! LIFE IS FOR THE LIVING.

You do not need to think a lot on certain situations. Anything that will not matter in five years should not occupy five minutes of your time. In a situation where you are in doubt, just know you are in the wrong place. We are always sure of the things we want and the people we want to hang on to. If you love someone tell them before it is too late. Take calculated risks. Fear nothing. Go for that date, event or hangout.
