Boundaries And The Dominated

The rest of us who try to enforce our boundaries without any kind of privilege or power to back us up are labelled as trouble makers who think to much of ourselves.

Your Success or Failure is Dependent On Your Intentions

I want to start this story off a bit different, and hopefully this doesn’t strike anyone the wrong way, but I feel like this needs to be heard — by myself included. I want to start this article by asking a question.

This 5 word interrogative, when directly asked will commonly lead to the longwinded explanation of a dream lifestyle, and honestly, it’s cool! As young adults I truly believe we give these claims with decent intentions.

So fine, I get it. However, are you being completely honest with yourself?Allow yourself to truly assess WHY you want your claim to be a reality. If you still can’t pinpoint why, no big deal. Some of our deepest emotions and feelings can’t be explained with words. But regardless, ask yourself more personally: Do you truly love that career, or that person, or that lifestyle like you say you do?

Quite frankly put, are you willing to die in the wake of your dreams becoming a reality?

Some would call this type of obsession ludicrous — unnecessary even. They would say “it’s not that serious.” But anyone that REALLY has a dream can tell you how serious it actually is.

So have whatever dreams, wants, and needs that your heart desires. I’m not here to tell you what you should and should not want. But what I WILL say, is not to claim you want that lifestyle you are so “made” for, and not be prepared for the war of chasing after it.

You can save yourself a lot of time, money, and sanity by putting that car in reverse and going in a different direction…

My 2nd day on set at Trisha’s Southern Kitchen was filled with MANY more faces. The culinary crew made it’s way in town and immediately I had the opportunity to shake hands and introduce myself. Step 1 complete: Infiltration… lololol Anyways, they work as a very tight knit bunch, and rightfully so. There are food stylists, culinary assistants, a kitchen lead, and a culinary director. All very important — all I plan to learn from in due time.

I also got to meet a good chunk of the production team which was even more powerful to me than meeting culinary. I know! I know, but hear me out on this one. I didn’t take this job to learn how to cook on a set. I don’t want to be taught how to style food like someone else, or cook according to someone else’s vision — that I can develop in my own practice time.

I took this job because I felt like if I had the audacity to dream of my own show(s) on the world’s largest culinary media outlet, I should at least show some respect to the industry and know what in the world is going on first. I see so many people wanting things because of what it can bring them, and not what they can bring to it… That is a quick way to get fizzled out and forgotten in this industry. I feel as though I have a message to share through my work in this space, and I refuse to squander the opportunity by trying to run before I learn to walk.

I’ll end by saying this, your intentions can be sensed from a mile away. Your talents and effort can only get you so far, and there will come a time where you need people to help you get to where you want to go. So it is best to have intentions that are pure and whole to really get what you want. Approach each conversation looking for ways you can help them and in the long run you will find that this energy is reciprocated, and you will win.

So I ask you one more time, do you love what you are chasing after? Are you willing to take the necessary steps?

I’m looking forward to bringing my servant’s towel in the AM ;)
