The Most Dreaded Message I Ever Heard from the Dead

One reading reinforced the fact that the medium can’t know the whole story

Back in the heyday of Yahoo Groups, I participated in one devoted to afterlife contact. A particular group member stood out-- Sherri, a bereaved mother who'd lost her teenage son. From her posts, I'd gathered that her son had died in a fall, but no detail as to exactly what occurred. Each time I spotted her posts, I felt the familiar tickle of contact; like a child tugging on one's sleeve for attention. Someone, presumably her son, Stewart was trying to reach me.

The 19 yr old was eager to communicate and provided several references to verify his presence to his mom. He mentioned a brother named Aaron/Darren; said his favorite food was his mother's spaghetti; told me he'd been named after his maternal grandfather; said his most treasured possession was a relative's WW2 military medal.

I don’t recall if I asked or if the kid volunteered the info, but I picked up a really chilling impression concerning his death. I got a visual of his accident and it was no tumble off an extension ladder or mistep while rock climbing. In the mental video, he showed me how he’d careened backwards over a balcony railing and fell to his death. As horrible as that seemed, it was the teenager’s summation which filled me with dread. He wanted me to tell his mother, "I was pushed."

Beyond the usual self-doubt of questioning my own impressions, the prospect of delivering that message terrified me. How could I possibly say that? What if I were just plain wrong? How much damage might I be doing by disclosing such a morbid statement? However, one thing lent surety to the lad's words. The 'Part 2' of his story was as intriguing as his bold declaration about being pushed.

He showed me that four people were on the balcony that night; himself, two males friends and a girl he didn’t know. The drunken teens were joking and laughing, acting foolishly. Stewart sat perched on the iron guard rail and one of the boys jabbed him in horseplay. Completely unprepared, Stewart flipped backwards over the railing, resulting in a fatal fall.
