However, there are some ‘moving companies’ that try to cheat their customers. Those ‘moving companies’ slander the name of reliable moving companies. And there are many ways in which those ‘moving companies’ can cheat their customers. Let’s explore some of them.

One of the ways in which those ‘moving companies’ try to get customers is to offer them extremely low quotas. The relocation process shouldn’t be that cheap since moving can be quite expensive for a moving company. Those scams offer unbelievably low quotas through their websites. So, be aware when you see extremely low moving quotas. For instance, you cannot hope to pay a small amount of cash if you are about to transport your car overseas! Compare those quotas with quotas from other moving companies.

Fake moving companies, or simply moving scams, will come to your home, and they will tell you that you have to pay for ‘special services’. Those ‘special services’ may include a special payment for stairs, meaning that they will ask for more money if they have to move something up or down the stairs; a special payment for heavy stuff, meaning that they will ask for more money if they have to lift something heavy; a special payment for special items, and many more. So, if you encounter some of them, check the validity of those moving companies, and don’t be afraid to call the law enforcement.

More often than not, fake moving companies will tell you that your stuff is heavier than you originally thought. Your original price may jump in that case. And they will ask for more money if your weight turns out to be more than you have expected it. And in many cases, those ‘moving companies’ will take your stuff away from you, and they will not bring them back unless you agree to pay more.

Quite often, moving companies that are fake will have no symbols of their company on their trucks, or they will have some other name. That is a big warning sign, and you can freely suspect that that moving company is not a valid one.

You should start packing your stuff way before your actual moving day. Packing on a moving day is a big no-no, and you should avoid that. Your movers will have to pack your stuff into the truck without the protective materials. That can lead to damages, and you don’t want that, especially if fragile items are included.

So, pack your stuff weeks in advance, and use protective materials for them. And be careful, not all protective materials can be used for every item. For example, don’t use plastic protective materials on tables or pianos. Under the heat, they can melt, and that will ruin the finish of your table or piano. So, if you are moving with your partner, pack together way before the moving day.

Yes, we know that there are many fake moving companies on the market, but that shouldn’t worry you that much. And yes again, many people may tall you that moving on your own is a valid option. That may be true for shorter distances, but for the longer distances not hiring a moving company is a big mistake. And there are three main reasons why.

First one of those reasons is — you can easily hurt yourself. Medical costs can be pretty high, and that money can be used for a professional moving company. You wouldn’t have to worry about the injuries, and you wouldn’t have to move anything at all.

Second, while moving on your own, you can easily damage something you own. If your movers damage something you own, they will have to repay you. But if you hire a reliable moving company, there is an astronomically low chance that they will damage something you own.

And third, they have trucks, and you probably don’t.
